Can a Furukawa HB20G Hydraulic Breaker with a Soosan SB70 Core Really Last? The Truth Behind Low-Cost HB20G Breakers
Can a Furukawa HB20G Hydraulic Breaker with a Soosan SB70 Core Really Last?
Recently, we have received many inquiries from customers in the Middle East and North Africa looking for Furukawa HB20G hydraulic breakers.
What surprised us was not the demand, but the target price.
A quality HB20G hydraulic breaker typically costs around RMB 18,500, which equals approximately USD 2,740 at today's exchange rate.
However, some customers were expecting to buy an HB20G for around USD 2,000 (approximately RMB 13,500).
At that price level, it is extremely difficult to manufacture a genuine HB20G hydraulic breaker using the correct structure and components.
Curious about the price difference, we asked customers to send photos of the breakers they were currently using.
The answer became clear immediately.
Many of these so-called "HB20G" breakers were actually:
- Furukawa-style housing
- HB20G nameplate
- Soosan SB70 internal structure
In other words, they were not true HB20G breakers.
They were essentially Soosan SB70 breakers disguised as Furukawa HB20G models.

Soosan SB70
Furukawa HB Series and Soosan SB Series Are Different Systems
Many buyers assume that if the outside housing looks the same, the breaker must be the same.
This is not true.
Furukawa HB Series and Soosan SB Series are completely different hydraulic breaker designs.
Key differences include:
Piston Design
Furukawa breakers use a different piston structure, impact pattern, and hydraulic system compared with Soosan breakers.
Cylinder Structure
The center cylinder, oil passages, and internal dimensions are different.
Spare Parts Compatibility
Many components cannot be directly interchanged, including:
- Pistons
- Bushings
- Seal kits
- Lock pins
- Front heads
An HB20G is not an SB70, even if the housing looks similar.
Why Do Some Suppliers Sell Them This Way?
The answer is simple: cost.
A Soosan SB70 structure is generally less expensive to manufacture than a genuine HB20G structure.
By combining:
- A Furukawa-style housing
- An SB70 internal core
Suppliers can significantly reduce production costs and offer lower prices.
For buyers focused only on the initial purchase price, this option may seem attractive.
Is This Business Model Sustainable?
In the short term, it can generate sales.
Customers receive a lower price.
Suppliers receive more orders.
However, long-term challenges often appear later.
Spare Parts Problems
Customers order HB20G spare parts but discover that many components do not fit.
Maintenance Difficulties
Technicians open the breaker expecting an HB20G design and find a completely different internal structure.
Loss of Customer Trust
Once distributors or end users discover that the breaker is not built according to HB20G specifications, confidence in the supplier can quickly disappear.
For dealers, this can create serious after-sales issues and damage their reputation in the market.

Furukawa HB20G
The Future of the Hydraulic Breaker Industry
Price competition will always exist.
But long-term success depends on:
- Product quality
- Stable performance
- Spare parts availability
- Technical support
- Customer trust
In international markets, repeat business is often more valuable than a single low-priced order.
A customer may work with the same supplier for five or ten years.
Trust becomes a critical asset.
Our Perspective
At Hanyun Hydraulic Breaker, we manufacture both Soosan SB Series and Furukawa HB Series hydraulic breakers.
We believe customers should always know exactly what they are buying.
If it is an SB structure, it should be sold as an SB breaker.
If it is an HB structure, it should be sold as an HB breaker.
Transparency helps ensure:
- Correct spare parts supply
- Easier maintenance
- Better after-sales service
- Long-term business relationships
In the hydraulic breaker industry, reputation often creates more value than short-term price competition.
